discipleship

"You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also."

2 Timothy 2:1-2

We believe discipleship happens in three main aspects at Memphis:
Corporate Worship, Life Groups, and one-on-one discipleship. These three areas build on one another beginning with Corporate Worship. As you walk through the pathway of discipleship, each area requires more commitment and more involvement.

We hope you will consider how you can grow in your faith to be more like Jesus!

Corporate Worship

During our worship time, we have a time of praise and worship with about 3-4 songs followed by a time of teaching from our Pastor. Our messages are expositional preaching from God’s Word that teaches us how to live out the principles from God’s Word in a practical way. As we worship together, we grow in our faith and in our understanding of the Lord.

Life Groups

Looking for like minded adults to fellowship with? We understand the importance of having good community in today's world, so we encourage you to join one of our Life Groups.  Our Life Groups focus on three important aspects of our Christian walk: Connect, Grow, and Serve. We want to see people connect with other believers, grow in their faith, and serve the community around them. Our Life Groups seek to accomplish those goals.

Dialogue Groups

Dialogue groups are designed to equip believers to mentor and disciple others in a one-on-one or small group setting.  These studies provides structure in allowing God to first speak to us through His Word, and then we respond to what he has said. This is called “dialogue.”

This study will include a “Paul” and at least one “Timothy.”  The Bible shares the unique relationship between these two.  We do not know whether or not Paul led Timothy to Christ, however, we do know that Paul mentored Timothy.

It is difficult finding people who want to be a Paul. Most do not feel qualified to be a Paul. Let us remember what Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:20. In this passage, Jesus commands “teaching” others in the faith. Many of you may begin as a Timothy, but the goal of this tool is for each Timothy to become a Paul to others within your own sphere of influence.

Our church offers three different studies depending on the spiritual season of the one whom you are discipling:

Explore: 21 Day Journey Through John
Dialogue: Study Through Proverbs
Foundations: 260 Day Journey Through Scripture
