Seen Ministry

What is our "Seen Ministry?"

Welcome to Memphis Baptist Church’s SEEN Ministry.

SEEN is a special needs ministry for anyone with a diagnosed physical or mental disability, ages four and up, into adulthood. A disability is any condition that limits a person’s abilities and actions, whether that be physically or mentally.

Society tends to view special needs as more negative, but the Bible tells us in Psalm 139:14 that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made, and we are to praise Him for that!

This ministry will include respite care on the 3rd Tuesday of every month (September to April) from 5:30 to 7:45 PM in our Family Life Center, as well as a buddy system on Sunday mornings.

Respite night will consist of food, fun, Bible study, craft, and Worship. We will also offer 1:1 buddy opportunities at our Respite nights, as needed. You do not have to be a member of Memphis Baptist Church to attend SEEN Respite nights.

If you would like to participate in the SEEN ministry, please fill out this paperwork so we can best care for individuals as they need.

Where does the name “SEEN” come from?

Genesis 16:13. In this verse, we are introduced to one of God’s names, El Roi, the God who sees me. Hagar, a slave whom Sarai and Abram used to have a child, speaks and uses “El Roi” when addressing God. She was at a low point in her life, and while she felt used and unloved by Sarai and Abram, she knew to God, she was much more than what others viewed her as. God sees us when no one else does. He sees who we truly are, not who the world says we are.

We are viewed in His image, as His children. When we feel alone, like no one can relate to us, we can know that we are “seen” by the One who created us and loves us.
